LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE
OLYMPIC TENNIS VENUE, OAKA
This landscape design project was implemented by Katerina Gkoltsiou in collaboration with Harry Papaioannou Architect and Landscape Architect, as part of a National design Competition which was organized by the General Secretariat of Sports.
The aim of the design was to increase the planting without obstructing the basic uses of the sports fields. The proposed vegetation consisted of trees, shrubs and ground covers. The selection of species and their planning aimed to create the sense of "invitation", "entrance" and "arrival". Therefore, the area should have been functional and pleasant during the Olympic Games of 2004 and the years after.
