KAPODISTRIAS SQUARE, FILIATRA

The landscape and planting design for Kapodistrias Square in Filiatra follows the trend of creating sustainable developments within urban spaces, with respect to the historical significance of the site and according to landscape architecture principles. The ultimate goal is to create an attractive, inclusive, and sustainable meeting place for the residents of Filiatra.

Plantings, as a key element of the outdoor space design, aim to highlight the new landscape architectural proposal, bioclimatically enhance the built envinorment, and create conditions of thermal comfort. The greenery serves as connector between movement axes, while the arrangement and combination of different plant species meet the functional requirements of the space and enhance visual perspectives. The proposed organic plant formations frame the new layouts and create an interactive green space with continuous aesthetic and environmental interest.

Mediterranean trees and shrubs from the Greek flora are installed in the various spatial units of the square, inviting visitors to an outdoor walk designed for exploration and social interaction.

The study was conducted for MORIAS S.A.
